Program Description

The healthcare industry needs leaders with an understanding of their individual leadership style and the macro environment within which they must operate. Students in the Undergraduate Certificate in Healthcare Leadership will pursue these goals through the examination of the types and styles of leadership, exploration of the U.S. healthcare policy development process, consideration of trends and issues in the healthcare industry from a strategic perspective, and utilization of the Pillars of Excellence model to examine ethical leadership and governance structures in highly reliable healthcare delivery organizations.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

Explore the types and styles of leadership.
Apply the Pillars of Excellence model to the governance and leadership of highly reliable healthcare organizations.
Examine the impact of healthcare trends and issues on healthcare organizations’ people, performance, and policy.
Describe the public policy development process that guides the delivery and financing of the U.S. healthcare system.
Apply virtuous business concepts to leadership in the healthcare industry

Program Requirements

Admissions Requirements for this Program

Accepted as a regular degree-seeking student or as an unclassified student.
Unclassified student requires proof of high school graduation or GED certification.

Graduation Requirements for this Program

Completion of 12 credit hours.
Minimum grade of “C” in each course.
Payment of all tuition and fees is required to receive certificate.
