Program Description

The Master of Science degree with a major in Information Technology Project Management equips students to apply project management principles and practices for IT initiatives across various organizations. The program emphasizes developing critical skills in selecting appropriate project management and leadership strategies and organizing teams for IT projects. Students will learn how to establish communication processes that keep all stakeholders informed of project status. A biblical framework is integrated throughout the program to guide ethical decision-making in IT project management. The curriculum includes all the content and study hours necessary to meet the educational requirement to sit for the industry Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)© and Project Management Professional (PMP)© exams from the Project Management Institute.

Students participating in this program desire additional study in order to expand and enhance their ability to contribute to their career path, company, and society. This program allows students to be engaged in working in a paid or non-paid position, (provided this employment is appropriate for a training opportunity, considering the goals and requirements of the degree program), which may include current employment in a full- or part-time professional position, participation in job shadowing, or participation in an internship. Additionally, the program provides a foundation for future employment to extend the academic experience with practical training as noted above.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

Apply project management principles and practices to IT project initiatives.
Identify the appropriate project management and leadership strategies for IT projects.
Manage teams to successfully execute IT project objectives.
Establish communication processes that keep all stakeholders informed of project status.
Demonstrate proficiency in both the theory and practice of project management.
Integrate a biblical framework to guide ethical decision-making in IT project management.

Program Requirements

Admissions Requirements for this Program

A baccalaureate or graduate degree from a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) verified on official transcripts sent by the institution directly to Indiana Wesleyan University.
An undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher from the baccalaureate degree granting institution at which at least a minimum of 30 hours was completed. If an applicant's GPA is below 2.5, the student may be admitted on a probationary basis, as established by the guidelines of the DeVoe School of Business, Technology, & Leadership.

Graduation Requirements for this Program

All credits required in the curriculum sequence with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a minimum grade of “C” in each course. A grade of "C-" or below will require the course to be repeated.
Overall GPA of 3.0 in all IWU graduate work.
Payment of all tuition and fees is required to receive a diploma.
