*Note on Piano and Guitar Sequencing:
Students who have no formal prior experience on guitar are recommended to begin with MUS-124 Guitar Techniques. An informal placement test may be administered to determine the appropriateness of this course for each student. Guitar Techniques may not be taken after MUS-111, 112, 211, 212, or other private study at IWU.
Students must first take the informal piano placement test with a piano faculty member to determine proper sequencing of piano study. A student must successfully complete the class piano courses before enrolling in MUS-111, 112, 211, or 212 (i.e. Class Piano courses MUS-105, 165, 205, and 305 are prerequisites of private study.)
